Guelph City Council voted to REFUSE the current development plans of townhouses and a 5 storey building on the vacant land across the street from us on Eastview.

I am grateful that the Council refused this. It sends a strong message to developers to get back to the table and present a plan that is environmentally responsible, takes into account the current neighbourhood, takes into account traffic for vehicles and pedestrians, and is a sound plan that works in this neighbourhood. I made a deputation to council twice now at the city planning meeting, to advocate against this current development plan, on behalf of Wyndham Hill Co-operative Homes Inc.

I will keep you posted anytime I or the Board hears of any new development plans for the space across the street.

You can call the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501

There phone message does state that if calling about the recent Service Canada Social Insurance Number scam, to go online and report it to www.antifraudcentre.ca but it looks like you need to sign into your government account to report something. You can however, view topics about scamming and also a list of scams to read up on. There is good information on the website, so take a moment to go to it.

Keep your personal information safe and do not share it with anyone on the phone or anyone who comes to your door - especially the sellers of hydro and gas.

Thanks

I got a call today and yesterday to my cell phone from 519-803-5520. It was a recorded message that said, they were calling from Service Canada about my social insurance number and to avoid legal charges, to dial #1. So just for fun I dialed #1 and some dude got on the line and started to ask me for my social insurance number. I told him he was full of @#$% and told him I was going to report them to the police.

So please, if you get a call that says they are from Service Canada or any government agency, hang up the phone. They are scammers. The Canadian government will never ever call you. They will send you a letter or email if you have access to your account online. Never ever talk to a person or answer any questions.

Block that number from your cell phone, if they call you.

Keep safe and keep your personal information safe!.
